Database Description: MEDLINE is NLM's premier bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and the preclinical sciences. Journal articles are indexed for MEDLINE, and their citations are searchable, using NLM's controlled vocabulary, MeSH (Medical Subject Headings).

Database Description: Current-Med is an online version of Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment though some content has been updated since the publication of the book.
eMedicine
Database Description: eMedicine offers thousands of peer-reviewed, disease specific artcles written and edited by over 7,000 physicians. Each article incorporates 4 levels of physician peer-review and updates include significant new clinical information. eMedicine also includes over 100 medical tools and calculators, as well as searchable image and drug databases. Articles typically cover author information, introduction to the disease specific topic, clinical presentation, differentials, workup, treatment, medication, follow-up and a bibliography.
UpToDate
Database Description: UpToDate is a practical clinical information resource that aims to synthesize the latest evidence and best practices and provide detailed recommendations.It is written by a recognized faculty of experts who each address a specific clinical issue.

ACP Journal Club
Database Description: The purpose of ACP Journal Club is to select from the biomedical literature those articles reporting original studies and systematic reviews that warrant immediate attention by physicians attempting to keep pace with important advances in internal medicine. These articles are summarized in "value added" abstracts and commented on by clinical experts.
Clinical Evidence
Database Description: Clinical Evidence is published by the BMJ Publishing Group. Clinical Evidence is an updated directory of evidence on the effects of clinical interventions. It summarises the current state of knowledge, ignorance, and uncertainty about the prevention and treatment of clinical conditions, based on thorough searches and appraisal of the literature. Clinical Evidence describes the best available evidence, and where there is no good evidence it says so. It is updated monthly and covers 20 specialties.
Cochrane Library
Database Description: Cochrane Library is a collection of four separate databases: Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR); The Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE); The Cochrane Controlled Trials Register (CCTR); and The Cochrane Review of Methodology Database. Select "EBM Reviews - Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews" to search systematic reviews.
PIER: The Physicians' Information and Education Resource
To search PIER from within StatRef, select it by clicking on it once and entering your search terms in the search box. You can also search PIER from the American College of Physicians' web site by selecting the PIER links that are in lower right hand corner of the window.
Database Description: Published by the Amercian College of Physicians, PIER is a decision-support tool designed for rapid point-of-care delivery of evidence-based guidance for physicians. Modules focus on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
TRIP Database Plus (TRIP)
Database Description: TRIP was created in 1997 to bring together all the evidence-based medicine healthcare resources available on the Internet. TRIP is updated monthly which means that once a month the majority of sources are visited and new articles are added. Among the sources covered are Cochrane Library, ACP Journal Club and eMedicine. It can be frustrating to use and not all content is available.
