AMA Manual of Style The 10th edition of the AMA Manual of Style features expanded chapters on legal and ethical concerns in publishing, statistical terms and nomenclature, an expanded reference section and complete glossary of publishing terms, and current information on electronic publishing and copyright issues. Books in Print (Global) Global Books in Print is comprised of Bowker's Books In Print database of titles available in the U.S. and Canada, and Whitaker's British Books In Print database of titles available in the U.K. It also includes book reviews and publisher contact information. ClinicalTrials.gov ClinicalTrials.gov is a registry of federally and privately supported clinical trials conducted in the United States and around the world. ClinicalTrials.gov provides information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details. Concise Medical Dictionary Published by Oxford University Press, this searchable database of information found in the Concise Medical Dictionary contains over 10,000 entries. Directory of Published Proceedings The Directory of Published Proceedings (DoPP) is a directory of conferences, congresses, meetings and symposia. DIRLINE - Directory of Health Organizations DIRLINE (Directory of Information Resources Online) is the National Library of Medicine's online database containing location and descriptive information about organizations, research resources, projects, and databases concerned with health and biomedicine. It includes over 8,000 records in many categories, including federal, state, and local government agencies; information and referral centers; professional societies; self-help groups and voluntary associations; academic and research institutions and their programs; information systems and research facilities. Foundation Directory Online Produced by the Foundation Center, the Foundation Directory Online Professional includes extensive data on funding opportunities. The searchable directory presents detailed information on more than 76,000 foundations, corporate giving programs, and grant making public charities as well as 350,000 grants awarded by foundations in the United States. FREIDA Online A service of the American Medical Association, FRIEDA Online (Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database Access) provides information on approximately 8,200 graduate medical education programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, as well as over 200 combined specialty programs. Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia The Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia is a multidisciplinary encyclopedia that offers more than 25,000 articles on a wide variety of topics. This source provides full text for all articles, and it's content is updated annually. Gale's Ready Reference Shelf Gale's Ready Reference Shelf is a searchable database containing more than 355,000 directory listings for associations, research centers, publishers, publications (ranging from newspapers and newsletters to periodicals and directories), databases, television and radio stations, and more. GeneTests GeneTests provides current, authoritative information on genetic testing and its use in diagnosis, management, and genetic counseling. It offers searchable directories of laboratories providing molecular genetic testing, and of clinics providing genetic evaluation and genetic counseling. It also offers GeneReviews, a database of peer reviewed, disease specific articles focused on the application of molecular genetic testing in patient care. HSRProj - Health Services Research Projects in Progress HSRProj, a database from the National Library of Medicine (NLM), provides contains descriptions of health services research in progress funded by federal and private grants and contracts. It also provides access to information before research results are available in a published form, including study design and methodology, demographic characteristics of the study group, number of subjects in the study population, population base of the study sample, and source of the project data. InfoEd InfoEd provides access to Spin, Genius, and Smarts, as well as to personalized funding opportunities. InfoEd permits access to the latest biomedical research being conducted at MSSM and other academic health centers. JAMAevidence JAMAevidence helps decision makers identify the best available evidence by providing guides to the systematic consideration of the validity, importance, and applicability of claims about the assessment of health problems and the outcomes of health care. It includes the Users' Guides to the Medical Literature: A Manual for Evidence-Based Clinical Practice; The Rational Clinical Examination: Evidence-Based Clinical Diagnosis; Quick Reference and Make the Diagnosis. MedInfoNow MedInfoNow is a database of 100,000 in-print books and software in the health sciences. Each title is reviewed and rated by medical experts. Registered users are able to establish personal profiles indicating their specialty areas of interest in the book literature. Personal profiles determine the content of each user's Weekly Literature Update, sent to them by e-mail and also incorporated into their own personal web page at the MedInfoNow site. Oxford English Dictionary The generally accepted authority on the evolution of the English language over the last millennium, the OED "traces the usage of words through 2.5 million quotations from a wide range of international English language sources, from classic literature and specialist periodicals to film scripts and cookery books". Oxford Reference Online Published by Oxford University Press, Oxford Reference Online, offers over 170 fully-indexed, cross-searchable reference works such as English dictionaries & thesauruses, bilingual dictionaries, quotations, encyclopedia, and subject references. Subject references are available in a wide range of fields, i.e., Art & Architecture, Biological Sciences, Classics, Computing, Earth & Environmental Sciences, History, Medicine, Nursing, Physical Sciences & Mathematics, Psychology, Public Health, Social Sciences, and Religion & Philosophy. ProQuest Dissertations & Theses ProQuest Dissertations & Theses indexes doctoral dissertations in all disciplines which were completed at accredited North American colleges and universities, and some foreign universities. This database includes abstracts only for dissertations completed since 1980, and can be searched by author, discipline, subject keywords, and institution. RefWorks - (RefWorks Guide) RefWorks is a web-based bibliographic management service similar to EndNote (but no software is required). Refworks allows you to create a personal online database of references, save and organize your references, import citations from online databases such as PubMed, automatically format your bibliographies and papers in MS Word, and share references online with colleagues. Bowker, provides data on over 210,000 regularly published and irregularly issued serials including over 47,000 cessations since 1979. This reference provides purchasing and contact information for over 90,000 publishers in 200 countries. Who's Who on the Web Marquis Who's Who on the Web is a searchable online database featuring comprehensive profiles on over 1 million of the most accomplished individuals from all fields of endeavor including government, business, science & technology, the arts, entertainment, and sports. WorldCat WorldCat contains all the records cataloged by OCLC member libraries, offering millions of bibliographic records. It includes records representing over 400 languages. All subjects are included and includes items cataloged in all formats. |
