Books 24x7 Books 24x7 is a collection of hundreds of full-text and searchable IT related books. Subjects covered include web development, certification, databases, desktop and office applications, networking, operating systems, and programming. ChemIDplus A freely available database of chemical records, including many chemical structures, from the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The ChemIDplus Lite version of this database allows simplified Name and CAS Registry Number searching only. ChemIDplus Advanced offers additional search capabilities such as chemical structure and biological/chemical property searching. Chemical records link to many additional biomedical resources at NLM and on the Internet. CHEMnetBASE CHEMnetBASE is an integrated online collection of major chemistry reference works published by Chapman & Hall/CRC, including the Combined Chemical Dictionary, The Handbook of Chemistry & Physics, Polymers: A Property Database, and Properties of Organic Compounds. CHEMnetBASE provides full-text, data, illustrations, as well as interactive tables, powerful search capabilities (including structure searching) and regular updates. Entrez Global Query The Entrez Global Query database search engine provides cross-database searching and access to over two dozen Entrez databases from the National Center of Biotechnology Information (NCBI). It includes literature databases (PubMed, OMIM and OMIA); sequence databases (Nucleotide, Protein, Genome, Structure, and SNPs); and additional taxonomic, substance and molecular biology databases (Taxonomy, Gene, UniGene, HomoloGene, Conserved Domains, 3D Domains, UniSTS, PopSet, GEO Profiles, GEO Datasets, PubChem, Cancer Chromosomes and Probe). Google Scholar - (How to Connect to Full Text with Google Scholar) Google Scholar is a version of Google that enables you to search for peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts, and technical reports from broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web. Identify papers that cite an article of interest in by following its "Cited by" link. INSPEC INSPEC is the world's largest bibliographic database in the field of physics, electrical engineering and electronics, computers and control engineering, and information technology. With more than 6,000,000 abstract records and 330,000 new abstracts, 4,000 journals and 2,000 conference proceedings added each year, the INSPEC Database remains the most comprehensive source of published reference literature in the world. Each record contains an English-language title and descriptive abstract, together with full bibliographic details which include the journal title, author's name and affiliation, and the language of the original document. Journal Citation Reports - (Search for Impact Factors) Journal Citation Reports (JCR) is a unique tool published by the Institute for Scientific Information. It delivers quantifiable statistical data (impact factors) that provides a systematic, objective way to determine the relative importance of journals within their subject categories. Both the Science Edition covering about 5,000 leading international science journals and the Social Sciences Edition covering about 1,600 leading international social sciences journals are available. MathSciNet A database of expert-written reviews, abstracts and bibliographic information, MathSciNet continues the tradition of Mathematical Reviews (MR) for the mathematical sciences literature. It contains many direct links to original articles, bibliographic data dates back to 1864, and citation data for authors. Articles and reviews are collected from over 300 journals, allowing users to track the history and influence of research publications in the mathematical sciences. PubChem PubChem is the NIH's Small Molecule Repository. Entrez, NCBI's search and retrieval system, links the small molecules in the repository to their biological functions and to the macromolecules with which they interact. PubChem also provides a fast chemical structure similarity search tool. There are three databases within PubChem: PubChem Substance, PubChem Compound, and PubChem BioAssay. Safari Tech Books Online - (O'Reilly Publishing only) A searchable, full- text collection of information technology reference books from O'Reilly Publishing. Coverage ranges from database and networking systems to digital photography and desktop applications to software engineering and bioinformatics computer skills. Science Careers From the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Science Careers is an integrated online resource covering scientific training, career development, and the science job market. It provides access to thousands of articles from Science's Next Wave, daily updates to job postings, career advice articles, graduate program information, meetings and event information, funding opportunities on GrantsNet, and a Career Forum where scientists can get free advice about career-related issues. SciFinder Scholar - (Available on-campus only) SciFinder Scholar is a premier chemistry bibliographic and reference research tool. Published by the American Chemical Society (ACS), SciFinder Scholar includes the Chemical Abstracts Service [CAS] bibliographic reference database. It also incorporates the CAS substance database, the CASREACT database, and the SciFinder Substructure Module, and can be searched by substance identifier, chemical structure, and chemical reaction. TOXLINE - Toxicology Literature Online TOXLINE provides bibliographic information covering the biochemical, pharmacological, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals. It contains over 3 million bibliographic citations, most with abstracts and/or indexing terms and CAS Registry Numbers. TOXLINE references are drawn from PubMed, as well as specialized journals, technical reports, and archival sources. TOXNET - Toxicology Data Network TOXNET (TOXicology Data NETwork) provides integrated online searching of over a dozen databases covering toxicology, hazardous chemicals, environmental health, and related areas. It can be used to locate toxicology data, literature references, and toxic release information on particular chemicals as well as to search to identify chemicals that cause specific effects. ToxSeek ToxSeek is a meta-search and clustering engine provided by the National Library of Medicine for over 50 environmental health and toxicology information resources including the NLM, NIH, CDC, EPA, FDA, the World Health Organization, and the National Safety Council (NSC).
