BoardCertifiedDocs - (ABMS Directory of Board Certified Medical Specialists) BoardCertifiedDocs is based on the data used to compose the Official ABMS Directory of Board Certified Medical Specialists. It is updated daily and is used to check physicians' board certification status, medical education and work history. Cancer Literature through PubMed - (Select Limits and choose Cancer subset) MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine's premier bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and the preclinical sciences. To restrict searches to cancer-related topics, first select Limits, then choose the Cancer Subset. Clinical Queries - (PubMed) Clinical Queries is an EBM (evidence-based medicine) feature offered through PubMed. This specialized search is intended for clinicians and has built-in search "filters" developed to quickly locate evidence-based literature. Select from one of four study categories--therapy, diagnosis, etiology, prognosis-- to retrieve evidence to answer a specific type of question. ClinicalTrials.gov ClinicalTrials.gov is a registry of federally and privately supported clinical trials conducted in the United States and around the world. ClinicalTrials.gov provides information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details. EMedicine also includes over 100 medical tools and calculators, as well as searchable image and drug databases, and over 30,000 images, radiographs, CT scans, and streaming video clips. Faculty of 1000 Medicine Faculty of 1000 Medicine is a literature evaluation and awareness service for medicine. Based on the recommendations of a selected faculty of nearly 2,500 leading researchers and clinicians, it systematically highlights and reviews the most pertinent papers in any field of medicine. GeneTests GeneTests provides current, authoritative information on genetic testing and its use in diagnosis, management, and genetic counseling. It offers searchable directories of laboratories providing molecular genetic testing, and of clinics providing genetic evaluation and genetic counseling. It also offers GeneReviews, a database of peer reviewed, disease specific articles focused on the application of molecular genetic testing in patient care. Google Scholar - (How to Connect to Full Text with Google Scholar) Google Scholar is a version of Google that enables you to search for peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts, and technical reports from broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web. Identify papers that cite an article of interest in by following its "Cited by" link. Harrison's Online This online version of Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine turns the classic medicine textbook into a searchable, frequently updated database. Healthcare Standards Directory Online The Healthcare Standards Directory Online is a comprehensive guide to healthcare standards, practice guidelines, and other official documents. The database includes standards issued by medical societies, professional associations, government agencies, and other health-related organizations. Many of these documents are not identified in MEDLINE. Due to copyright restrictions, users must contact the issuing organization (or other sources, where identified) to order standards. Hurst's The Heart The definitive authority on cardiovascular health and disease and the anatomy of the heart, Hurst's The Heart Online gives efficient access to the 11th edition of this classic cardiology text. MD Consult MD Consult provides an integrated search platform for a variety of full-text clinical resources. It contains over forty journals, the Clinics of North America series, reference books, clinical practice guidelines, drug information, patient education handouts, and regularly updated medical news. It also offers PDA resources. National Guideline Clearinghouse A comprehensive database of structured abstracts that summarize the development and recommendations of clinical practice guidelines and links to full-text guidelines where available. It offers a Guideline Comparison utility that gives users the ability to generate side-by-side comparisons of two or more guidelines, and is produced by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, with the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Association of Health Plans-Health Insurance Association of America (AAHP-HIAA). Natural Standard Natural Standard provides evidence-based information about complementary and alternative therapies, and includes contributors from more than 50 academic institutions. For each therapy covered by Natural Standard, a research team systematically gathers scientific data and expert opinions. Validated rating scales are used to evaluate the quality of available evidence. Information is incorporated into comprehensive monographs which are designed to facilitate clinical decision making. NLM Gateway - (Searches multiple NLM databases) The NLM Gateway provides a single search interface for multiple NLM resources, including MEDLINE/PubMed, the NLM Catalog, a variety of consumer health and toxicology resources, OMIM, and more. It also includes abstracts from HIV/AIDS, Health Services Research, and Space Life Sciences meetings. OMIM: Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man OMIM is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders. The database contains textual information and references, and incorporates copious links to literature references, sequence records, maps, and related databases. OMIM is authored and edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick and his colleagues at Johns Hopkins and elsewhere, and developed for the World Wide Web by NCBI, the National Center for Biotechnology Information. PDQ - NCI's Comprehensive Cancer Database PDQ (Physician Data Query) is NCI's comprehensive cancer database. It contains regularly updated, peer-reviewed summaries on cancer treatment, screening, prevention, genetics, and supportive care; a registry of approximately 1,800 open and 12,000 closed cancer clinical trials from around the world; and directories of physicians, professionals who provide genetics services, and organizations that provide cancer care. The PDQ adult treatment summaries are also available in patient versions, written in easy-to-understand, non-technical language. PIER: The Physicians' Information and Education Resource Published by the American College of Physicians, PIER provides current, evidence-based guidance for clinicians. PIER features disease-specific articles presenting succinct practice recommendations supported by detailed levels of rationale and evidence. Supporting references are given a level of evidence rating. PILOTS (Published International Literature on Traumatic Stress) PILOTS is a bibliographic database produced at the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Its goal is to include citations to all literature on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental-health sequelae of traumatic events, without disciplinary, linguistic, or geographical limitations, while offering both current and retrospective coverage. UpToDate - (Available on-campus only; ACCESS DETAILS) UpToDate is a practical clinical information resource that aims to synthesize the latest research evidence with best practices in order to provide detailed recommendations. Topic reviews cover internal medicine, ob/gyn, and pediatrics and are written by recognized physician experts. Web of Science The Web of Science provides web access to the citation indexes of the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI).
