Notes: The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) is dedicated to exploring complementary and alternative healing practices in the context of rigorous science, training complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) researchers, and disseminating authoritative information to the public and professionals. The site contains statistics, consumer information, funding opportunities, links to research resources, training opportunities, and information on meetings, workshops and news.

U.S. Pharmacopeia Dietary Supplement Verification Program
Notes: The USP "Dietary Supplement Verified" mark indicates that the product has passed stringent quality testing. The distinctive USP-Verified mark appears on several dietary supplements on store shelves. The mark is "independent, authoritative assurance of a supplement's integrity, potency, and purity." Contains a list of verified brands and products and stores where they are available.

Office of Dietary Supplements (NIH)
Notes: Contains dietary supplement fact sheets as well as vitamin and mineral supplement fact sheets. The site also houses two freely searchable databases:
  • IBIDS: International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements provides access to bibliographic citations and abstracts from published, international, and scientific literature on dietary supplements.
  • CARDS : Computer Access to Research on Dietary Supplements database of federally funded research projects pertaining to dietary supplements.

FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition - Dietary Supplements
Notes: Extensive information on how the FDA regulates dietary supplements which are under a different set of regulations than those covering "conventional" foods and drug products (prescription and Over-the-Counter). Warnings and safety information is also presented.
