This is an excellent opportunity for a 2008 fellowship opportunity with the S.T.A.R Program (Schizophrenia Treatment and Research), which is a divison of the Mt Sinai School of Mt Sinai School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry, ranked among the top 10 research departments in the country and it's affilitate institution, the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. The program provides comprehensive psychiatric care to patients suffering from schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and other primary psychotic disorders. The program focuses on patients who require active treatment and support for their integration in the community. The program provides services addressing a broad spectrum of psychiatric, medical, and psychosocial needs of patients. A particular goal of the program is to conduct research with the goal of improving treatment and outcome of schizophrenia. Fellowship Goals: -To develop clinical skills in the multi-disciplinary care of patients with schizophrenia -To introduce concepts in community integration for schizophrenia patients -To promote research in the etiology, pathophysiology and treatment of schizophrenia Candidates for this position must be US Citizens.
